KitchenAid Pro 600

KitchenAid Pro 600 is a stand mixer I have had for quit some time now and I have not only made mashed potatoes with it, but a large batch of delicious chocolate chip cookies, several dozen loaves of bread, cakes, pie dough and much more.

The first thing I noticed after taking it out of the carton is that the machine is definitely metal and it is well made. It is heavy, not cast iron stove heavy, but hefty as in it feels like good quality. The second thing I noticed was the amount of noise it made.

Just turning it to the 1st speed had the thing sounding just like a concrete mixing machine. I mean this puppy is loud. It has to be 5 or 6 times as loud as my original KitchenAid stand mixer was. It seems like it is attempting to make peanut butter out of pea gravel. Well, I would be lying if I said it didn’t make me think twice.

I am talking about how can a machine that makes that much noise be great quality? However, I pushed that a side and made a loaf of whole wheat bread. I mill my own flour and I knew that even a single loaf batch would have been a great test for the mixer.

KitchenAid Pro 600 - Terrific At Kneading Whole Wheat Bread Dough

The KitchenAid Pro 600 stand mixer did an admirable job. Once the motor had been placed under load it smoothed out plus quieted down by several factors. However, what was much more impressive was the latest dough hook.

I've got to tell you this specific dough hook kneads just like a champ. It's the closest thing I have come across to hand kneading. It truly does work the dough and also works it hard.

This is an excellent thing as it increases the gluten within the dough so that you get a pleasant high rising loaf that has good structure as well as crumb and is also light. I did whole-wheat bread which was as light and moist as white bread. Definitely, this had me very impressed and this also helped to drive the noise issue to the rear of my mind.

What I'm saying is I still wasn’t happy with the sound, but so far the KitchenAid Pro 600 mixer has been doing a great job and the motor didn’t even grunt while mixing the whole wheat bread dough.

kitchen Aid Prof 600 stand mixer series is a must!
